This page is written for buyers who already need a quotation and want to compare specification, delivery term and supplier scope before sending a WhatsApp inquiry.
Start with specification, not only price
Many import inquiries begin with a simple price request. For generators, that is not enough. The buyer should define kVA, voltage, frequency, standby or prime duty, engine platform, canopy type, ATS or panel scope and required accessories before comparing suppliers.
If the scope is unclear, a supplier may quote a different engine, exclude ATS, use a different alternator or provide FOB pricing while another supplier quotes CIF Lagos. The numbers will not be comparable.
FOB China versus CIF Lagos
FOB China can suit buyers who already have a forwarder and want to manage freight directly. CIF Lagos gives a port-based shipping reference from the supplier. It should not be confused with full door delivery, customs clearance, unloading, installation or commissioning unless those services are written into the agreement.
| Term | How buyers use it |
|---|---|
| FOB China | Useful when the buyer controls freight through a nominated forwarder. |
| CIF Lagos | Useful for port-based landed comparison into Lagos. |
| Both options | Useful when management needs to compare freight control and supplier shipping support. |
Inspection and proof before shipment
Ask for production photos, generator nameplate, controller photo, engine and alternator details, packing photos and loading proof. For important orders, request a test video or inspection plan before shipment.
Good proof reduces uncertainty and gives the buying team materials for internal approval.
FAQ
Can I import one generator or only bulk orders?
Both single project orders and dealer stock inquiries can be discussed. Send kVA, quantity and delivery basis.
Should I ask for FOB China or CIF Lagos?
Ask for the term that matches your freight plan. If unsure, request both as separate lines.
What documents should I confirm?
Document requirements vary by shipment and buyer process, so confirm them with your freight forwarder or customs broker before final approval.
